THE SZYMANSKI FAMILY OF OMAHA

My name is Don Szymanski and my family came to the Omaha area in the early 1880's. They left a conquered Poland behind and settled in what was then known as South Omaha.

My great-grandfather, John Szymanski, would work as a laborer and eventually be active in the Polish community.

Although he died relatively young, he is well remembered and has several hundred descendants that live all over America and in foreign countries as well. I sure believe he is proud of both his family and of Omaha's Polish history.
